Making sense

That made absolutely no sense!!!!

Have you ever received a message from a friend and had to scratch your head?  What in the world were they saying??  Maybe they were typing too fast, maybe they were recording the message, maybe spellchecker got it wrong, maybe you’ve  misread it.

Whatever the reason, you know your friend, and this message is not saying what they meant to say . . . this message is nothing like the person you know . . . you must hold the message loosely until you check with your friend and ask them, what did you really mean to say???

You know and trust your friend but the message you just received is something else.

Many years ago, after He had live, died, and resurrected, Jesus told His disciples that it was really best for them if He departed.  He told them He would send a Comforter, His very Spirit, to dwell inside each of them. This Comforter would help them remember Jesus . . . how He acted, what He said, the warmth of His love, the meaning of His death, and in fact . . . all things!!!

This same Spirit continues on today.  The very Spirit of God Himself . . . a resident inside our soul and core.  What better resource for knowing The Father? What could be more reliable?  To whom else should we go for answers?

Messages from or about God can come in many forms, from preachers, teachers, parents, the Bible, friends, songs, devotional readings, and even our own mind.  Some are trustworthy and tell the true heart of The Father . . . others make us say “this doesn’t sound like my Father!”.

If it sounds a little off, if it doesn’t mesh with what you already know about Him, if you suspect that the word didn’t come through accurately. . . you have God’s Spirit right inside you . . . trust Him to clarify, listen to His explanation, be comforted that you are communing with your Friend Himself.

Then it will all make sense.
